The first thing you need to accept when you are in a relationship is the fact that your man is not perfect and he will never be. He WILL do things that will hurt or disappoint you but that doesn't mean that he doesn't love you anymore.
For us girls, we think that we should always be treated like a queen but a relationship is a two-way street. You can't always be the one receiving. You also have responsibilities to make the relationship work. You don't need to try so hard but you need to do your part.
1. Give him space and privacy even if he's not asking for it. They love their family, their friends, their videogames, their beer and their porn. Let them do whatever they love to do especially if those things have been in their lives before you came.
I've always been the type of girlfriend who befriends my man's friends. I would hang out with them all the timet. They can talk to me about anything -- girls, sex, porn, all those man stuff but I know when they just want to have a boys night.
And remember, please please remember that the worst thing a girlfriend can do is deprive her guy from seeing his friends. Friends are family you get to pick, why would you want to take him away from them?
2. Don't let him pay for everything. I have some girl friends who are very sensitive about this. They think that the guy should always take care of the bill. You're also getting a paycheck, spend it.
3. Don't tell him what to do. Men, by nature, are independent. They don't want to be told what to do, what to say and what to be. Let their brains decide for them. Unless you are a pedophile with a 16-year old boyfriend, don't tell him how to live his life..
4. Encourage him to be better. But not to the extent that you will do #3. Just be there on his vulnerable days and let him feel that it's okay for them to cry in front of you. Guys are tough but they have their moments.
5. Kiss him... because we all love kissing. Enough said.
6. Ask him how his day was. "How was your day?" is one of my most favorite questions to hear and to ask. I feel like, being asked how my day went marks the end of a long, tough day and that everything's okay now. They feel the same about it.
7. Be his number one fan. Support your guy all the way, acknowledge his endeavour and believe that he will be great. And however things turn out, be proud of him.
8. Surprise him with sweet nothings. A note, tickets to a movie he's been waiting to see or even just his favorite crackers. Little things are always cute and sweet.
9. Dress up for him. It's nice to know when your guy still finds you cute even if you've been living in a sweatshirt for a week but it would be nice to dress up once in a while for him.
10. Learn how to cook his favorite dish. Cause you know what they say, the way to a guy's heart is through his stomach.
11. Respect his parents and siblings. A man loves his family more than anything else in the world and showing him that you love his family will make him love you just as much.
12. Laugh with him, laugh at him and let him laugh at you.
13. Do not interrogate. Casually just ask, "You seem wrecked, what's wrong?" If the guy starts ranting, listen. If he shies away the question, do not keep asking. Men sometimes want to get their minds off something that bothers them. Interrogating won't help, it'll even make them mad sometimes. If he prefers to keep quiet, you also keep quiet or open a different topic. But always make sure that he knows that when he feels like talking about it, you will listen.
14. Do not play mind games. If you are mad, you tell him. If you are disappointed with something he did, you tell him. If you want something, you tell him. Guys are naturally clueless.
15. Spend time with him. Even if you don't how to play video games but he likes it so much, try to learn and play with him. If you do not like football but he basically lives for it, watch it with him. Also, ask him to do things you are interested in.
