Garbage In, Garbage Out

Probably the most common birthday wish people ask for is happiness. No surprise on that because everyone wants to be happy. However, sometimes we jeopardize our own happiness because of negativity, lack of trust or worse, lack of faith. How does these affect our search for happiness?

We tend to think of the worst case scenario even before it happens. Maybe it's because we don't want to be caught off guard once a bad situation arises. We keep ourselves busy preparing for what might happen in the future that we forget to enjoy what's happening right now. We spend so much time trying to stop anything or anyone to rain on our parade that we keep ourselves from appreciating the good things that we have -- good things that we should be happy about.

We've all been betrayed in the past, some of us just hold on to the betrayal longer than others -- longer that we should. This also prevents us from being happy. We think that because we've been lied to before means that everyone's just going to lie to us. We don't trust people because we feel like they're all just going to break our hearts. But see, no matter how much a person hurt you, it doesn't mean that everyone's going to do the same thing. We are all liars but we do not lie to everyone so there's a slim to zero chance that every person who wants to be part of your life is going to break your trust.

Garbage In, Garbage Out
In my field, it is used to call attention to the fact that computers will unquestioningly process the most nonsensical of input data and produce nonsensical output.

It also applies in real life. If you allow negativity to get in your system, it tends to be reflected on the outside -- on how you look at life.
