Yellow Light

"The truth is," she said softly, "I don't even know if he's worth it." she continued as she flicked her cigarette.

Her friend smiled and answered, "You said it yourself months ago, nobody is ever worth it."

"What if he is?" she replied, "What if I take my chances this time?"

"And if it doesn't turn out well?"

"Then I'll try again," she said and looked away. Staring at the stoplight across the coffee shop, she added, "I'll try over and over again. I will wait until I find someone who's worth it all."

When the light turned green, she looked back to her friend and said, "Isn't that what life is about after all?"
